SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM MANAGER
Senior Consultant | Remote (U.S.-based) | 6 Month Contract
Position Summary
Pagitsas Advisors is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager — a senior consultant with deep experience in corporate sustainability and a strong track record managing multiple complex projects simultaneously across multiple clients.

This is a 6-month contract engagement with the opportunity to convert to a full-time hire. The role is client-facing and program delivery focused. The Program Manager will support client workstreams within the pharmaceutical sector while contributing to other Pagitsas client engagements as needed.

Key Responsibilities
ESG Software Implementation Program Management
-
Serve as program lead for the end-to-end implementation of an ESG reporting and data management platform within a large, complex global pharmaceutical enterprise.
-
Act as the central coordination point between internal client stakeholders across sustainability, finance, technical operations, IT, procurement and legal functions and external implementation partners.
-
Manage program governance including status reporting, risk and issue tracking, milestone management and escalation of decisions to senior client leadership.
-
Drive alignment on ESG data architecture, metric ownership, reporting framework mapping and data validation workflows across a defined set of regulated and voluntary disclosure requirements.
-
Coordinate cross-functional readiness across data, systems and organizational stakeholders to ensure timely delivery against a defined implementation plan.
-
Support user testing, end-to-end validation of reporting workflows and structured handoff to client teams for ongoing ownership.
-
Support change management and training activities, including communications, stakeholder engagement and standard operating procedures, to drive adoption of the ESG platform and new reporting processes across the business.
Supplier Sustainability Capacity Building Program
-
Manage delivery of a program supporting a defined set of suppliers in setting science-based targets to meet a customer sustainability requirement.
-
Coordinate program activities across a condensed, fast-moving timeline — including supplier communications, scheduling and progress tracking.
-
Support supplier capacity building in GHG accounting and target-setting processes, working alongside carbon accounting experts on the core consulting team.
-
Maintain clear and timely communication with client leadership and supplier contacts throughout the program lifecycle.

Client Service & Firm Operations
-
Manage day-to-day client relationships across both workstreams and additional engagements, maintaining clear communication and building trust with senior stakeholders.
-
Prepare and deliver status updates, meeting documentation and program reporting on a regular cadence.
-
Identify and escalate scope, timeline or resource risks proactively.
-
Support the broader Pagitsas team across other client engagements and firm operations as capacity allows.

Qualifications
Required
-
8+ years of professional experience in corporate sustainability, ESG consulting or a related field.
-
Strong working knowledge of corporate ESG strategy, sustainability reporting frameworks and disclosure requirements including CSRD, CDP, GRI and related standards.
-
Solid understanding of GHG accounting principles, science-based targets and corporate decarbonization processes — sufficient to effectively coordinate and support carbon-focused programming alongside technical experts.
-
Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent client engagements with competing priorities and deadlines.
-
Experience supporting or managing technology implementation projects in a corporate or consulting environment.
-
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills; comfortable working with complex data flows, metrics, and process maps.
-
Able to operate independently in ambiguous situations, switching between strategic and execution workstreams and proactively engaging Pagitsas Leadership team for needed oversight.
-
Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, public policy or a related field.
Strongly Preferred
-
Experience with ESG reporting platforms or data management systems (e.g., Workiva, Persefoni, Watershed or similar).
-
Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare or similarly regulated industries.
-
Experience supporting supplier engagement or sustainable procurement programs.
-
